Originally from Los Angeles and based in Montreal, Leah Hamel is a multidisciplinary artist working as a professional dancer, choreographer, cellist, and composer. At 18, she moved to New York City to study at The Juilliard School, where she earned a BFA in Dance. Since then, she has collaborated with several professional companies and performed in Los Angeles and internationally.
Alongside her dance career, Leah has pursued a deep musical practice. Classically trained for nearly twenty years as a cellist, notably under the guidance of Celine Gietzen, she has also performed in rock and folk bands since the age of 19. She now develops an interdisciplinary approach that merges her two passions: music and dance.
